Support and Office Staff

Mr. Hugh Allison

I have been the High School Computer Lab Proctor at York One Academy for 2 years.

I am a York native and graduated from York Comprehensive High School. After High School, I attended and graduated from Winthrop in Rock Hill, SC. Later, I met my wife and we moved to Fort Mill, where we lived for over 30 years while working in Rock Hill and Charlotte. 2 years ago, we decided to leave Fort Mill and moved "across the river" back to York.

Having spent many years in the business world, I felt I needed a change. I came upon the opportunity to work with students here at YOA. It has been very rewarding as I hope to make a difference in how they think about their future both in high school and beyond graduation.

Mr. Stephen Burkell

Hello, prior to coming here to YOA, My background was in Law enforcement and security. I was a Military Police officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1991 to 2003, during which time I had several deployments to hot spots overseas. In 1998 I was appointed as an Instructor for a school that taught follow on and refresher training for non-combatants on their roles in the event of war. Eventually I was appointed as the chief instructor and curriculum coordinator. I served in that role until 9/11 at which time I was made a shift supervisor Base security at Cherry Point and Camp Lejeune NC. Upon release from active duty, I served as a Deputy Sheriff and Police officer in Jones County, and the City of New Bern NC. During all of that time I completed my bachelor's degree in criminal justice administration at Mount Olive College in Mount Olive NC, Graduating in 2006. After that I became a Security Contractor for the Department of Homeland Security where I served until 2024.

I Live between York and Sharon with my Wife who is a Biology teacher at YCHS, our 2 sons, 2 dogs and a cat. I have also been involved in Scouting, the Mason's Lodge and was a volunteer Firefighter for many years. My Hobbies include all things music, (I DJ, and play several instruments and sing) and riding Motorcycles. I am a co-leader of a motorcycle ministry at my church here in York.

I am a huge sports addict. I love Football, Basketball, Tennis and Baseball. I have two other greater loves in my life which includes my Husband (Paul Moore) that I met in High School and the love of music. Anyone that knows me can share the admiration and love I have for my listed life pleasures.

Mrs. Harriet Kinsey

Originally form Orangeburg/Calhoun Counties, my husband and I moved to York County in 2002 and have loved being a part of this wonderful community ever since. I graduated from OC Technical College in 1996 with my Associate Degree in Nursing and finished Clemson University in 1997 with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I believe you should always challenge yourself and learn new things, so in 2009 I went back to school to complete my Master of Science in Nursing in 2011. Prior to becoming a school nurse with our district, I divided my time between civilian nursing as a Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse and a Flight Nurse with the US Air Force (of which I retired in 2016). I have two adult sons who grew up in this community and a daughter-in-law who is a teacher. I began my YSD1 school nurse career in 2007 and have enjoyed growing in and with this community. I look forward each day to working together with all the amazing staff, students and parents in this district. It is truly the best job!
