Ms. Adrienne Berry
I am excited to serve this school year as the School Counselor at York One Academy. My greatest joy is encouraging and supporting success in students. In my role, I will strive to help all students by providing a comprehensive program that meets their academic, personal/ social, and career development needs.
I strongly believe that every student has the ability to learn and grow in a safe, positive, and supportive environment where expectations are taught, modeled, and expected. I believe that every student deserves to be noticed (seen and heard), recognized, and celebrated. When students feel safe, share respect, build trusting relationships, and are recognized for their individual gifts, strengths, and unique abilities, they will reach their optimal learning capacities and potential.
I look forward to working with our students to equip them with the tools to be successful in transitions back to their home schools.
Mrs. Donna Hancock
My name is Donna J. Hancock, and I serve as the Behavior Intervention Specialist for York One Academy. I am a licensed school counselor and have served in the educational field for 24 years, with most of my experience being with Gaston County Schools in North Carolina. This is my second year with York District One and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share and help students reach their highest potential.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Shaw University in Raleigh, NC and a Master of Arts in School Counseling from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC.
It is my goal to help students see beyond their present circumstance, to work diligently and consistently to become better versions of themselves.
